   "Fall, beast!"
The mighty ungor bellowed in pain as Denafrious' longsword pierced it's gut. The beastman raised it's axe and took a large powerful swing at it's armored opponent, only for it to be deflected off his shield. In anger and frustration, it bullrushed Dena, breaking his guard and knocking him to the floor. As the the creature towered over him, it gripped it's axe with 2 hands this time; eager to deliver the finishing blow. Dena tried to bring his shield to his face, but the ungor quickly stammed a hoof onto his arm. A numbing pain shot through Dena's arm, keeping him from moving it.
The great beastman stared down at Dena as he raised his axe high above his head. Unable to move his paralyzed arm, he raised his sword to defend and braced for the impact...only to hear a loud "THUNK"; followed by the sound of cracking bone as Caelik's hammer shamed into the ungor's skull. It staggered, dazed, and tried to regain it's dying senses. Caelik smirked, confidently. "Havent had enough, eh beast?" he said, as he gripped his weapon. Dena rose to his feet, rotating feeling back into his arm. "Thanks, brother. Shall we finish this?" Caelik turned to the warrior beside him. "Aye, lets!"
The night sky of the high pass was beautiful. As Dena pulled his sword from the body of the ungor, he looked out at it's deep blue horizon. The chill air stung his wounds slightly, but was a cool relief to his body, burning from the thrill of battle. Four years had passed since he and his brother set out on their pilgramage. He picked up some snow and cleaned his blade of blood; then after drying it with his kit cloth, he sheathed it. Caelik walked over to his brother as he stared at the sky. "Oggling the scenery again brother? You've always been a bit too artsy for your own good," he said mockingly, wiping the blood from his hammer off on Dena's armor. Dena jerked away, slightly annoyed, and responded. "Yes, yes. I had to hear it from you back at home, and you havent stopped since. Dont make me put you in the rack again, little brother. I'm not wounded THAT badly."
Caelik continued on, unimpressed and half ignoring him. "The nearest imperial outpost is quite a ways away, Dena. We had better get a move on." Dena opened his map. Caelik was right, it was at least a full days travel...which wouldnt be a problem had that ungor not ambushed them; now they needed a place to stay to get out of the cold and tend to their wounds. Dena scratched his head, pondering. Then he noticed another small outpost no more than a few hours travel."you know, Caelik..."he said..."There is an elven outpost very close to here. I think we should head there first." Caelik snapped around with a scowl on his face. "ELVES!? Brother, you KNOW how i hate elves! They're so...prissy..."
Dena sighed and responded,"Now now, brother...I'm sure you'll manage just fine. We are both wounded, and this cold will make things worse if we dont get out of it." Caelik, still irritated at the very thought, answered."Very well, brother...but lets not stay for anymore than a few days! If Isee too many armored 'dresses' It makes my skin crawl." Dena laughed heartily, half feeling the same way, and they set out to the elven sort.
