There were a few recent comments that led me to understand there is some clarification needed in how Anti-Sanctus Chaotica is organized.

I'll start with the counter-example.

ASC is NOT organized like most gaming guilds, which are generally very linear.  In those guilds, you start at the bottom and get promoted upwards, and then have leadership responsibility over those under you.  Some may branch out to being leaders in PvE, vs in PvP... or being leaders of x Class.... etc.

I'll wager to say that MOST gaming guilds do not move very far beyond that organizational structure.  In fact, the in-game guild roster code is tailored specifically to that type of structure (and makes things hard for us  It's Gorlag!).

In ASC, being an officer does not directly mean you have a command-chain position over other members.  There are certain, very-specific responsibilities delegated to each position in our organization.  The Quartermaster of Malevolent Mercantilism, for instance, is responsible for liquidating any unneeded equipment, either through direct sales, or through managing our activities at the Auction House.  He reports to the Grandmaster who reports directly to the Dark Council.  This does not mean the QoMM is any more responsible for forming parties and warbands in game than any non-officer member of ASC.  The job is specific, helps the regiment as a whole, and keeps any one person from being responsible for too much stuff.

So, what about the Council of Dark Lords?  You don't see us much.  Does that mean we are lax in our roles as officers?

The Council is organized to serve the same purpose and role that the Board of Directors serves in many large organizations, both profit and non-profit.  They are a steering community.  They decide policy.  They guide the officers.  They have the final decision on any officer that reports directly to the Council.  They have the ultimate, "the buck stops here" responsibility for any problems, failures, or crises that arise.

In many real world examples, the Board of Directors are the guys that hire the CEO... and then the CEO is the one who has the responsibility for the day-to-day management of the company.

The same is true for Anti-Sanctus Chaotica.

The Dark Council, in all our (un)Glory, is just a Board of Directors.   The REAL leadership with ASC.... the ones you see every day, in and out...  are the Overlords, Grandmasters, Generals, Recruiters, Quartermasters, Ambassadors, Corrupters of Ways and Administrators of RP Squads, and especially the corps of the Wicked Death: the Odji-Mortis.

They serve the greater membership with their volunteer efforts.

They are the (un)Heroes in our Malevolent crew.  We salute them for all the carnage and misery they bring to the battles of WAR.

It was noted that recently a member of another regiment suggested that "the GMs of ASC are inactive."

The inaccuracy of that statement is laughable, but easily understandable as a situation of people comparing apples to oranges...

It is an issue of perception and education.  All of the 7 dark lords are in constant communication outside of the game.  There is a great deal of thought and effort that goes into this community.
So, if you think of ASC as what is done in game, you don't get the accurate picture.

So - it should be on us to help the full membership of ASC be more aware of the differences between our organization, and your standard fare.

In terms of the game, it is more appropriate to compare our tactical officers, to the GMs of other guilds.

And no one would suggest that the Overlords and Generals are not active leaders.  Their role within our guild is what most people associate with the GM.

The Dark Lords do the stuff that most guilds don't do - which is why most guilds either fail completely, or have no presence beyond the game.

We should make that more clear to the members of the guild.  That way, they can be prepared to laugh in the face of any un-educated non-member who makes that type of insinuation.
